View No. 1 (2025): Human-centric approach to Artificial Intelligence

Edited by Marco Filoni, Filippo Maria Giordano, Giorgio Grimaldi

The publication “Human-centric approach to Artificial Intelligence” , issue 1/2025 of the journal Quaderni di Comunità, edited by Marco Filoni, Filippo Maria Giordano, and Giorgio Grimaldi, aims to collect studies and reflections on technological development, in particular on the potential and risks of artificial intelligence, understood as the set of results resulting from the use of ‘the science and engineering of building intelligent machines.’ . The essays contained therein aim to offer analyses and proposals that can guide processes of sharing and developing best practices, thanks to the contribution of scientific research from various fields: from philosophy to sociology, from history to political science, from law to economics, from education sciences to psychology, from medicine to life sciences, from anthropology to ethics and religions. Given the remarkable and increasingly rapid technological advances that are having a growing and ambivalent impact on human activities and personal life, largely still unknown or insufficiently studied, the need for dialogue and discussion on developments and guidelines and limits to be defined for artificial intelligence is a clear priority. In fact, its conception and application should be rigorously guided and regulated so that it does not lend itself to the development of tools capable of increasing violence, discrimination and the destruction of common goods, but can contribute to the well-being and care of people and communities, the promotion of justice and peace, and the protection of the Earth as our common home.
