Fortnite, developed by Epic Games in 2017, has achieved worldwide success thanks to its Battle Royale mode, where up to one hundred players compete on an island to be the last one standing. Its cross- platform availability, constant updates, and multiplayer gameplay have made it one of the most popular games among teenagers, with millions of
active users. On November 4, 2023, the OG season set a record with 44.7 million players in a single day. In 2023, ReteSviluppo launched Kimap City on Fortnite, turning the video game into an educational tool to raise awareness about accessibility and inclusion as part of the Good Gamer Toscana program. Fifty hours of training involved students from ISIS Gobetti-Volta and the Sarrocchi Institute, who designed a barrier-free virtual island for wheelchair users. The project highlighted the potential of game design to foster creativity, critical thinking, and social awareness, showing how Fortnite can become an inclusive educational environment.
